Becoming a Father

I am in the process of completing the work 'Becoming a Father'. It will be available as a hard copy, audio and an e-book, and also as modules available for you to download for your own purposes, men’s group, book club, or as a basis for our ongoing discussions in the psychotherapy and counselling space.

Becoming a Father is a reflective and deeply human exploration of modern fatherhood, inviting men to move beyond performance, certainty, and outdated masculine myths toward a more present, emotionally engaged way of being. Through philosophy, psychology, lived experience, and heartfelt storytelling, the book reframes fatherhood not as perfection, but as the courage to “step up, lean in, and hold on.” It is a meditation on love, vulnerability, grief, touch, identity, co-parenting, and the sacred weight of everyday moments, offering fathers a compassionate guide to becoming more fully themselves through the act of loving their children.

Key Takeaways

  • Fatherhood is not about perfection or control, but about presence, repair, and emotional courage.

  • Children are shaped less by what fathers say and more by who fathers consistently are.

  • Love, attention, touch, and authentic connection create the foundation for resilience, identity, and belonging.
